At the age of four, I won a coloring contest and my photo was in the local paper with the Easter Bunny. Over time, the tools have changed: crayons turned into film, coloring books into slides and the local paper into nationwide exhibitions. My current photography asks the viewer to willingly navigate the space between words and worlds. The theme of my work probes the concept of liminal space, where one is neither here nor there, and the viewer is asked to interpret the situation for him or herself allowing a narrative to evolve from the work. My interests lie in exploring the complex emotions, fantasies and memories of queers and interpret how they affect the construction/formation of queer life. I have exhibited work in Tennessee, Olympia, Portland and San Francisco. I have shown in every imaginable venue from traditional galleries and museums to nightclub spaces to coffee shops to backyards.
